The Essential Values Workshop:

This workshop is designed for beginner and intermediate artists.
Value is one of the most important components for harmonious paintings. Several exercises are planned to not only teach the fundamentals of value scales, but also using light, shadow, and color to successfully give the illusion of form. Several small studies will be completed with a color glazing demonstration rounding out the workshop. The goal is for everyone to gain the confidence needed to begin or continue their painting journey.

Rachel Jones is a multimedia painter. Creating art is one of the ways of connecting with viewers she may never have a chance to speak with. Lone females, repeated figures, and floral arrangements are often depicted in her work. The images are often quiet, mysterious, and explore the more challenging sides of human nature. Jones has created larger works but prefers the intimacy of smaller works since they force the viewer to come closer creating a one on one conversation. Jones says, “My aim is not to tell a story from beginning to end, but have observers immerse themselves in a moment.” Focusing on the not-so-perfect individualizes each piece. Rachel Jones is a native of South Carolina and has been an active part of the local art scene for over 20 years. However, her time in South and Central America and England have all influenced her art. In addition to being collected locally and internationally, she also is a workshop instructor and offers individual lessons.
